Mind Reviews Announcement
June 19, 2026
I decided to announce a series I've been planning since late May of this year so that, when Haven Social is able to launch (around July to October), I already have a project to announce. It's called Mind Reviews, named after the John Lennon album Mind Games. I was inspired to make a review series after seeing Yahtzee Croshaw's Zero Punctuation series, specifically the Hunt Down the Freeman entry. I'll specify how the reviews are gonna be structured.
Review structure
Usually, series (mostly web series) are the ones being reviewed. Occasionally its an entire series or season. The first four of the list are what I will bring up in each review (for video games the last one, Gameplay, is brought up). In episodes reviewing series, each topic has a total of 2.5 points, which give a total of 10 so its like ██/10. Each of the "sub-topics" have their highest score as "0.5" and it can change depending on the quality. The reason why I do this instead of going straight towards the writing is because I feel like this structure gives justice to each work, reviewing them wisely and justly.
- Visuals: Design, backgrounds, props, effects, errors.
- Writing: Themes, characters (chararcterization and arcs), style (dialogue, pacing, humor if there is), story, worldbuilding.
- Music: Lyrics, style, originality, usage, other.
- IRL: Crew, history, adaptation/inspirations, general reputation, impact.
- Gameplay (video games only): Controls, level design, mechanics, charm, bugs/glitches.
Projects to be reviewed in the future
- Battle for Dream Island (all seasons)
- Inanimate Insanity (all seasons)
- Beyond Bounds: The Winds of Passion
- Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss
- ZooPhobia
- Sonichu (segment in an unrelated video)
